TERRE D’AMIANTE

Nous avons abordé la mine d’amiante à ciel ouvert d’Asbestos telle une action. Nous avons séjourné 3 nuits et 4 jours au fond du puits. Nous avons exploré l’ensemble de ce grand entonnoir qui fait 2 kilomètres de diamètre à son ouverture et 370 mètres à sa profondeur maximale (la taille de la tour Eiffel).

Le paysage minier d’Asbestos est le résultat de 100 ans d’un travail colossal qui a façonné la municipalité et son environnement. En se concentrant sur la démesure de ce terrassement à la fois fascinant et dévastateur, Terre d’amiante propose une réflexion sur les effets passés et présents des choix industriels.

LAND OF ASBESTOS

We approached the open pit of the asbestos mine as an action. We stay 3 nights and 4 days at the bottom. We explored all of this large funnel, which is 2 kilometres in diameter at its opening and 370 metres at its maximum depth (the height of the Eiffel Tower).

The mining landscape of Asbestos is the result of 100 years of colossal work that has shaped the municipality and its environment. By focusing on the excess of this fascinating and devastating earthworks, Land of Asbestos offers a reflection on the past and present effects of the industrial choices of our society.
